 What is LASIK?

LASIK is the most technologically advanced way to reduce your dependency on glasses or contacts.

The procedure uses an excimer laser to reshape the cornea or the surface of your eye. This alters the way light rays enter your eyes to achieve focus, in much the same way that glasses or contacts alter the light rays entering your eyes today.

There are two variations of the LASIK procedure, each of which has distinct advantages.

LASIK (Laser-Assisted in-Situ Keratomileusis) sculpts an inside layer of the cornea through the use of an excimer laser.

Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA), also known as "Bladeless LASIK", refers to LASIK procedures which treat the cornea without the creation of a flap.

Can LASIK correct my vision?  LASIK can be used to correct nearsightedness and farsightedness, and can now be used to correct astigmatism. By completing an Advanced Diagnostic Test, your eye doctor will be able to discuss these options with you and determine which approach might be best for you.
